Family Histories
My Loyalist Roots: George Buck, UE (b. 1740) his daughter Susannah Buck, UE (c. 1780–1850) and Henry Christopher, Watteville Regiment (1783–after 1861) and Their Descendants in North America
By T. Warren Christopher with additions (after 2012) by his niece Emily E. Auger
Excerpt from the Preface
My search for my cousins started in the summer of 1995 with the knowledge that my grandfather Levi Watson Christopher had been born near Kingston, Ontario. From the records in the Kingston Public Library I learned that the Christopher family had lived on lot 16 concession 1 of Storrington Township, Frontenac County. As I delved into these documents and other traces of history, and also met and benefited from the research completed by others, I became interested in verifying my family's United Empire Loyalist roots and eventually received my UEL certification.
C. Bruce Teepell of Elgin, Ontario, provided me with my first information on the Hughson family who lived across the road from the Christophers at lot 16 concession 1 of Storrington Township, Frontenac County. My great-grandmother Fannie Ester Hughson's stone was found in the Latimer Cemetery located on the family property. Over Easter 1996 I met Lou MacGready online, and she directed me to John E. Buck of Kingston, Ontario. John provided the leads that have made this Christopher family history possible. The later chapters of this document include basic information to connect those interested to other researchers of Buck descendants.
Like all family histories, this story remains incomplete and fraught with gaps and probably more than a few errors of information and spelling. I sincerely hope that anyone who can help fill in missing information or correct errors will contact me.
Along the way many wonderful people have contributed to my research. Thanks to all of you.
